ORC Week Six: Master Bedroom: The Final Reveal

Spread the love

downloadWell it is finally that time the final week of the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling it Home. If you haven’t stayed up to date on my progress, go and check out the five other posts that I did following my journey.

ORC Week One: Inspiration and Ideas/ORC Week Two: Changes/ORC Week Three: Painting walls, painting furniture/ORC Week Four: Bedside Table Dilemma/ORC Week Five: The last few things

While I felt like I would never finish, I did. Although, I want to be completely honest with y’all right away. I am not done. I started this process 6 weeks ago and while I was taking on this project I am also going through my Kon Mari Journey (there will be more on this process soon) and one thing that I am taking from this journey is that I no longer buy to simply fill a space. There are still a few things I am looking for that I just couldn’t find. It was either I just do not have the funds to purchase it or I couldn’t find it. This space in front of the window seems empty. I wanted a nice, comfy chair or a sleek, simple vanity with a ghost chair. I couldn’t find either, so instead of buying something I didn’t love, I decided to just keep it like this. Honestly, a chair would probably be a dumping ground for clothes, but in any case I am liking the “empty” zone.

So let’s dive right in and see how I transformed my Master Bedroom into a calm, peaceful retreat for myself and my husband.

I can’t even believe this is how my room used to look like. It lacked personality and it simply wasn’t me. It was beige on top of brown on top of black- it was BLAH!

Look at this space now. To me it doesn’t even look like the same room. The great thing was I was able to re purpose a lot of furniture pieces I already owned.

I made the headboard by using some foam, fabric and an old headboard and painted the existing bedside table and dresser.

Have you seen the bedding? I just fell in love with it as soon as I laid eyes on it. I knew I had to use it in my new room and in reality it was the thing that jump started the whole room.

You will also see I decided on white curtains. I tried the navy blue but the white just gives me that farmhouse feel I was going for and I am so glad that I stayed with my original plan.

Let’s take a look at the dresser and you will not believe the transformation…

Another new addition to the bedroom are the beautiful lamps I found at Wal-Mart, can you believe that. They were only $27 each. Sweet score 🙂

So now I am just going to show you a bunch of pictures of the room because I k now that is why y’all are here 😉 Enjoy!!

So there y’all have it, my farmhouse simplistic master bedroom. I love everything about this room and it brings me so much joy when I walk into the room. It just goes to show you that you do not need to have a lot of money to get the bedrooms of your dreams. Stay tuned for posts on how I made my own fabric headboard, how I transformed bedside tables and a dresser and a budget breakdown on how much the room actually cost!!
